Frequently Asked Questions...

“What is involved in Delivery and Commissioning?”

We are factory trained in all aspects of maintenance of our Hot Tubs. We will get your Hot Tub in position, fill the hot tub and carry out the required checks before giving you an easy to understand course on how to operate and maintain your new Hot Tub. All we need is clear access to the base, a clean water supply (garden tap is perfect) and an appropriate electrical supply with isolator switch

“What are your Delivery Access Requirements?”

We usually use a special Spa Dolly to move your Hot Tub in to position. Depending on your model we require approximately 1m width and 2.5m height clearance to manually move your Hot Tub. Please be aware you may have to remove fence panels etc. for us to gain access if required. We can also organise a crane if access is limited. Just phone us if you have any concerns and we can do a site survey and go through your options.

“What are the Electrical Requirements for your tubs?”

Generally you will need an electrician to install a dedicated 20 Amp supply with an isolating switch within 1m of the Hot Tub. For detailed information and specification we can talk directly to your electrician.

“What are the Hot Tub Base Requirements?”

Hot Tubs themselves are around 250kg but when you add 1000 litres of water (1000kg!) then 5 adults (350kg) then you can see a solid base is essential. Slabs are perfect as is decking when properly supported. Also, think about good drainage. Hot Tubs are not designed to sit in water.

“Can I Lock my Hot Tub Lid?”

All our lids have lockable straps which will give you peace of mind if small children have access to the area around your Hot Tub.

“Is it possible to reduce my running Costs if I'm not using the Hot Tub while away on Holiday?”

Our Hot Tubs feature the latest Balboa Spa Control systems which have 3 energy saving modes which can reduce your energy consumption by up to 60%. While on Holiday you can put the tub into SLEEP mode and it will reduce the temperature and cut the number of filter cycles to save on energy. ECO mode is great for the light user when you don't use the tub on a regular basis.  Turning the temperature down, even by a couple of degrees can save a lot of energy. We maintain several hot tubs in Holiday Accommodation and if we know there will be no guests for a week or so we can activate sleep mode and turn the temperature down to 20 degC which keeps running costs to a minimum.

“How do we keep our Hot Tub Water Clean?”

Highland Glen Spas have a very efficient filtration system which continually filters the water. It is also important to check chemical levels to keep your tub safe and hygenic. It should only take around 30 minutes a week to maintain the water quality of your tub -

1/ Once a week you need to check the alkalinity of the water using test strips. Add pH+ or pH- chemicals to adjust.

2/ Twice a week sanitise the water by adding Chlorine Granules to the tub with the jets running.

3/ Once a week keep your spa looking clean and froth free by adding "Spa Sparkle" and "Anti-Foam".

4/ Once every 2 weeks take out the Hot Tub filter and clean with cartridge cleaner.

This is a very simple guide and should be adjusted accordingly depending on usage.

“Where are your Hot Tubs manufactured?”

All our Hot Tubs are manufactured in the USA. They are designed and built by an industry leader with over 25 years experience.

“I have a Holiday home which I rent out on a weekly basis. If I buy a Hot Tub from Highland Glen Spas will the waranty still be valid”

That's a very good point. Most manufacturers do not warranty a Hot Tub in a commercial environment. We specialise in this area and give you a free 12 months commercial warranty with the option to extend it to 3 years parts and labour. Adding a Hot Tub to your holiday accommodation can boost your occupancy and allow you to increase your prices. It can pay for itself in less than 12 months.
